Axim X50 not showing up as a windows mobile device

My Dell Axim X50 is showing up as an unkown device. I have deleted it and then allowed device manger to find it again with the same results. I can see the SD card and internal memory of the device but can't sync to outlook.
Thanks

Did you install any software that came with the device? Might be some proprietary Dell software that needs to be installed first. -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "Rainman" wrote in message

Thank you for your reply. In this case there isn't any software to load. In the past, I just loaded active sync and was good to go. Seems to be an issue with the new built in Vista version of sync center and my X50 running Mobile 5.0.

Have you downloaded that from Active Sync then and see if it will work? http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/activesync38.mspx
If version 3.8 does not work, give the 4.2 BETA preview a try: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/downloads/activesync42.mspx -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "Rainman" wrote in message

ActiveSync all versions is blocked by Windows Vista. You need to use Sync Center. I am having similar trouble. I can create a partnership but I can sync the device with the Exchange Server, not not Outlook.
Anyone with suggestions I would welcome them to.

I was told that Vista's Sync Center replaces all previous versions of Active Sync. But I'm having the same problem with my Dell Axim X30. The Mobile device shows up in device Manager, but Windows Mobile Center would not start up and the Sync Center doesn't have my partnership. -- MW27
